چکیده

The IEEE 802.15.3a standards body has developed a modification of the Saleh–Valenzuela (SV) multipath channel model as the accepted channel model for ultra-wideband (UWB) investigations. The SV model is a well-defined simulation model that is straightforward to implement. However, since the model as specified is not directly amenable to theoretical analysis, it is constructed here as a two-dimensional “augmented cluster point process” that is composed of three statistically independent components that can be separately analyzed. For the IEEE 802.15.3a model, general formulas are derived for means, variances, and covariances of important channel quantities. In particular, closedform expressions in terms of the channel parameters are found in the following cases: the number of multipath arrivals, the number of detectable multipath arrivals, the sum of path gains, the sum of squares of path gains, and the received multipath waveform. In addition, closed-form expressions are found for the power-delay profile and the detectable-path profile.

Performance Evaluation of MB-OFDM based UWB System

This paper investigates the Multi-band OFDM (MB-OFDM) based physical (PHY) layer proposal for IEEE 802.15.3a working group on short-range high data-rate Ultra-wide-Band (UWB) communications. An overview of the MB-OFDM PHY layer architecture with its various parameters is presented and the optimal choice of critical parameters is discussed. Next, we derive the theoretical un-coded Bit Error Rate...

Linear Estimation of Signals Transmitted over the IEEE 802.15.3a UWB Channel

When transmitting a known signal over a multipath channel, the received waveform is a stochastic process due to the random nature of the multipath arrival times and gains. Any program aimed at linear estimation of the random waveform requires its correlation function. Explicit formulas are given for this correlation function when the multipath arrival times and gains are described by the recent...

Performance Measures and Statistical Quantities of Rake Receivers Using Maximal-Ratio Combining on the IEEE 802.15.3a UWB Channel Model

Closed-form expressions for the average signal-tonoise ratio (SNR) and amount of fading are derived for a rake receiver using maximal-ratio combining on the IEEE 802.15.3a ultra-wideband (UWB) channel model. It is also shown that all moments of the SNR and all joint moments of the channel coefficients can be expressed in closed form.

Space-Time-Frequency Coded for Multiband-OFDM Based on IEEE 802.15.3a WPAN

In this paper, Multiband-OFDM UWB system based on IEEE 802.15.3a standard is studied and simulated with spatial, time and frequency (STF)coding scheme. The using of STF coding method can guarantee both full symbol rate and full diversity advantages. The simulation results show that the STF code uses multipath-rich and random-clustering characteristics of UWB channel environment on the performan...

Outage Probability Bound and Diversity Gain for Ultra-Wideband Multiple-Access Relay Channels with Correlated Noises

In this paper, Ultra-wideband (UWB) multiple access relay channel with correlated noises at the relay and receiver is investigated. We obtain outer and inner bounds for the IEEE 802.15.3a UWB multiple access relay channel, and also, a diversity gain bound. Finally, we evaluate some results numerically and show that noise correlation coefficients play important role in determining relay position.
